Richard Jones

1:2:1 or Group Coaching

No matter what standard you play at, you can always improve.

With an ECB Advanced Coach (Level 3) certification, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field. His coaching journey includes coaching Gwent Young Cricketers, Cricket Wales East Pathway, and Wales age group cricket, where he has helped mold the future stars of the sport.

But Richard's dedication doesn't stop there. As the teacher and director of Wicket 2 Wicket, he possesses a unique ability to assess the specific needs of cricketers in the local community. His deep-rooted connection with the game is evident through his leadership of the grassroots pathway at Newport Fugitives Cricket Club. Remarkably, he's been part of this club for over three and a half decades, which makes him a living legend on the cricket field.

Richard's commitment is not confined to coaching alone; he's also an ECB Coach Developer. This means he's not only shaping players but also helping future coaches hone their skills. In fact, he's eagerly looking forward to running ECB courses at the center, ensuring that the cricketing community continues to thrive and develop under his expert guidance.

In sum, Richard is the coach who embodies the spirit of cricket and is dedicated to nurturing talent, both young and old. Whether you're a budding cricketer looking to refine your skills or an aspiring coach seeking guidance, Richard is the ideal mentor to have by your side on your cricketing journey.

Oliver Mason

Oliver is one of Wicket 2 Wicket’s directors and alongside his role as operations manager, he has developed his coaching knowledge and as a level 2 coach is helping many early and foundation players find there way into cricket.

Oliver works with a variety of abilities and age ranges, from club cricketers, pathway players, players that are only now finding the game, as well as those returning to playing in competitive leagues across South Wales.

As the women’s game has grown especially with the centre hosting the largest women’s indoor league, many clients that Oliver is working with are women looking to improve their ability, both hard ball and soft ball. Oliver has been developing drills and practices that compliment the indoor game and that they can be used in door summer leagues.

As many people that are coached by Oliver know, the centre is a relaxed environment which is ideal to learn at your own pace. Sessions are tailored to the person and not generalised.

Oliver is an all-round coach specialising in wicket keeping and batting.

Geraint Leach

Geraint’s cricketing journey has been one of many different phases where he’s worked across a range of areas from junior cricket to pathway cricket, and then onto professional cricket and working with professional players and teams.
